Iris Light powers the Cloud through breakthrough on-chip laser technology. Data centers currently consume 2% of global electricity and contribute ~2% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The Iris Light solution increases the bandwidth and energy-efficiency of light chips in data centers. Iris approaches chip manufacturing differently than any other company with a proprietary nanomaterial printing process that deposits hundreds of lasers directly on-chip at the foundry, simplifying manufacturing and allowing chip makers to sell more valuable, fully integrated light chips with 10x-100x more lasers and multiple functions. In silicon photonics, each wavelength (laser color) serves a different function. Due to the wide spectral coverage, Iris can custom design light chips with colors relevant to a wide variety of industrial sectors. Iris Light is an Argonne National Lab spin-out, and currently incubating in the Chain Reaction Innovations program funded by the Department of Energy.
